I mentioned that I dreaded going to school.. I think today's lecture totally changed my outlook of school. Going to school is quite fun afterall! Prof Brian (my hoca [teacher in turkish i think]) is a really cool lecturer with a great sense of humour. Glad I'm gonna be in his tutorial class.

Though I was quite pissed I have no choice but to register Intro to Magical Realism as my 5th module, I'm glad I made that choice after reading through the course info.

Let the engineers build the bridge. WE ENGLISH MAJORS shall just walk over them.

It's only the first week of school, and I have tons of readings to do...
Just for this semester, I have to read 10 texts.. and mind you, it's just Core Texts. I still have short stories and readings to do... ahhh....

My Engrish sueerely wrill imploove by thee end of my 4 years in NTUU...

Nanyang Technological University...
Non-young Technological University!

Anyway.. As I was going to school today, I saw from the train a primary school having its Sports Day in the school field. Made me reminisce my days in Qifa where we had our Sports Day every 8th August.. From running the zig-zag events to the 80metres relays, to the 100metres relays, and my highest achievement.. 400metres! -.-'' I guess the most memorable one would be the 4X100m relay with my friends.. how we want so badly to win.. The most heartbreaking one was in Primary 6.. one day before my 400metres relay, I twisted my ankle..I can never forget that.. It was my last year in primary school, last sports day, last chance to win a gold medal! (cuz i won the bronze the previous year). Oh well.. I miss primary school days badly.. especially the FOOD! 60cents chicken rice.. 50cents noodle.. 10cents soya bean drink... Qifa serves the best food.. I still dream of the school canteen once in a while! =D That's probably why I can never forget the canteen there. Oh ya.. I can also remember the wanton mee lady that sells pathetic wantons..

As much as Im not happy with the education system in Singapore, I don't wanna leave the studying world. I don't wanna enter the working world.. I hope my 4 years in NTU go really slowly.

Let me see how much I can remember from the Qifa School Song..
.....
.....
to do our very best.
In Harmony and Friendship..
Prosperity and Progress!
Chorus:
Qifa, Qifa, Qifa our pride and our star
Together we will work and strive!!!
For excellence, success, and Qifa.

I can't remember the rest.. haha..

P:S I can't even remember my secondary school song.. not a single word nor the tune.. For JC? HAH! Worse, I didn't even try remembering the lyrics to the schoolsong and I didn't sing a single word when the school song was played!

Damn shagged..
and sad..
and scared...

Sunday, August 5, 2007

Wow, I'm starting school tomorrow. It seems so surreal, thinking back on JC days. Those roller-coaster days. Time past really fast..I still remember my first day of school, and going for orientation. I remember having a bunch of classmates that aren't too happy with their fate in JJC. I remember having bad experiences during J1 days with that civics tutor. I remember those days in J2 where we mugged like mad, staying back in the school library to do revision. I remember the terrible experiences with Euro Hist tutor.. Boy she still gives me the creeps. I remember having Cheddar and Brocoli soup every Friday... I remember many many more.

From tomorrow onwards, I will be on my own.. Everything is about independence, and I'm really scared, but at the same time excited, to start my tertiary life. I'm still very confused about registration for subjects, but I guess I will see the light sooner or later. Seems like when I thought I know everything from head to toe, I get people asking me questions and I become confused all over again.

Writing an editorial is not easy at all. For the first time, I realised my heart beating really fast as I receive those comments from the chief editor. I am having second thoughts now.

On a happier note, God answered a prayer that I never really prayed for. He gave me not one, but two tuition assignments. Good money, since it's back to back tuition at the same house. I guess He knows that I'm not prepared to work at the Canteen in school. I guess He knows how tired I'll be. It's amazing. The call from the tuition agent just came out of the blue.

I'm scared though.. I'm afraid of teaching the wrong stuff.. I have one week to "practice" :)

Oxymoron feelings have overwhelmed me, yet again.

On a random note...

Music and Lyrics, Hugh Grant & Haley Bennett

I've been living with a shadow overhead
I've been sleeping with a cloud above my bed
I've been lonely for so long
Trapped in the past, I just can't seem to move on

I've been hiding all my hopes and dreams away
Just in case I ever need em again someday
I've been setting aside time
To clear a little space in the corners of my mind
All I want to do is find a way back into love
I can't make it through without a way back into love
Oh oh oh

I've been watching but the stars refuse to shine
I've been searching but I just don't see the signs
I know that it's out there
There's got to be something for my soul somewhere
I've been looking for someone to shed some light
Not just somebody just to get me throught the night
I could use some direction
And I'm open to your suggestions

All I want to do is find a way back into love
I can't make it through without a way back into love
And if I open my heart again
I guess I'm hoping you'll be there for me in the end
There are moments when I don't know if it's real
Or if anybody feels the way I feel
I need inspiration
Not just another negotiation

All I want to do is find a way back into love
I can't make it through without a way back into love
And if I open my heart to you
I'm hoping you'll show me what to do
And if you help me to start again
You know that I'll be there for you in the end

*screams* AKON IS COMING TO TOWN IN AUGUST FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY! But I don't understand why it's at D'Marquee and not the usual Indoor Stadium. Nonetheless, tickets are REAALLLLLY CHEAP! (is there a reason behind the cheapo tix?) I really wanna go see Akon!!

Anyways, I managed to survive a whoolllleee day of welcome speeches. Glad I went though, cuz there were some useful information. No tutorials next week!! Weee! But, one of the lecturers gave us an assignment -.-... must do some reading on Beowulf. (what the hell is that?) Oh, we had to recite a school pledge with gowns supplied on the seats.. quite cool though cheesy. NTU prepares great tea-reception man! Not that the food tasted damn delicious, but they do have a spread!

On a happier note, I finally finished my camp editorial for Funkygrad. It's not easy being a writer man... I still have one movie review to write on Poltergay. Did I mention, 50% of they guys in the cinema was gay? No joke. The movie was on gays anyway. =p (a gay was just sitting beside me!)

I was looking forward to the start of school even up til' this morning..But somehow something changed everything.. I don't feel like starting school anymore :(

Simpsons Trailer. I found this Spiderpig thingy quite cute haha.
Anyway! I dreamt about Harry Potter yesterday! Probably one of the best dreams ever. I was a new character in Harry Potter's world, and I dreamt that when dementors came in front of me, I just had to blow them away. Serious! Harry Potter taught me that in my dream ok!
