Something totally brainless but necessary

I was so bored that I had to do this to scare myself.

Semester 1's books. (add that with another 3 books which aren't with me)

This semester's books....the bottom stack of papers are the 211 (film studies) readings.. so add them with another 16 films that I've watched for the course. (wow.. 16 films in 12 weeks! I've never watched so many films in my whole life before.. so far at least.)

Behold, the difference

Wanted to list down all the books that are required to be read for this semester, but I figured out I'll just die of heart attack. :p

I haven't read 3 books out of the pile for this semester. How screwed am I. I heard it's not that dangerous to leave out Bleak House though.. might consider taking the risk depending on the time. Might just have to depend on Sparkie for Bleak House.
-oops-

If you're thinking that I have to complete the disgustingly thick book at the bottom, worry not. I just have to read selected texts and poems ;)

Now, back to the issues of Orientalism for my HL211 essay.. the most interesting yet profound module of the semester.

:)

Mid week again, but I'm already feeling very tired. Not just physically tired, but tired of certain things in life, which i know I shouldnt be worrying about since I've already prayed, but somehow i just don't have the faith to believe nor pull through. This is just one of the moments where life seems really mundane and stagnant. It's easy to say "just don't think about it", but when your mind is idle, it is prone to think about almost anything in the world, what more the issues on hand.

On a happier note, I've finished 3/4 of my Sg Lit texts... left with Fistful of Colours which I'm really not interested in reading. Hope to finish it by Friday so I can concentrate on Vic Lit texts.

Got back the Sg Lit assignment today. I did better than I expected. Definitely satisfied considering how crap the work is. Tom Stoppard's presentation next wk, and then it's HW111 (our grp is really slack man...), and then it's exams. Can't wait for the exams to be over. I'm sick of this semester.

On an even happier note, Mom bought me a Cheesecake Recipe Book. Soooo many different kinds of cheesecake recipes! Definitely brought a smile to my face. Now I'm motivated to make cheesecake again, considering the not so successful first attempt.

Yesterday, went with CW to the Maroon 5 concert. It was not bad, and I couldn't help gushing about Adam Levine. Anyway, my craving for Bedok food was satisfied. The food was simply awesome.
Fried carrot cake.

The special Ba Chor Mee. The stall only sells Ba Chor Mee soup. The garlic taste is really strong, so if you're someone who doesn't like garlic, you'd probably not like it. I like it though.

Fried Hokkien Mee! Love the Hokkien Mee here!

Too bad our stomachs were not big enough for the stingray, grilled chicken wings, and otah. Those are really nice too.

The cross, O the wonderful cross
What Glory, what victory, I've found
I'll come to the wonderful cross
And my whole life I lay down

It's the time of the year again we remember the death of Jesus on the cross. Well, we can't just remember what He did on Good Friday and Easter, but we should constantly remind ourselves of the debt He paid for us.

Anyway, patience indeed is virtue. I waited for the price of my dream watch to drop before buying it, and indeed the price dropped by 20%! Was rather upset at first cuz I couldn't find the colour that I wanted, but the lady said she could help me order. Paid a 20bucks deposit and now I just have to wait till my watch comes.

One more month to exams! Can't wait for it to be over. Sherlock Holmes stories are interesting. Shall read more of them after exams.

URGHHHHHH TO VICTORIAN LIT ASSIGNMENT.
Not as bad as the Merlion though. BUT STILL..

Not going to Redang anymore. That's a really big deal and now I have no mood to do anything. Super sian. Was looking forward to a good break after a horrible semester but looks like I'm gonna be confined to the walls of home. At least I have many movies waiting for me in my hard drive.. and Lost 4! Missed so many episodes. Thank God right now I'm not really keen in catching up with the series.

What's with professors and being vague this semester? All the assignments are not specific, which really makes it hard to focus. HL103 will be the next tyrant I'm catching.

Another week beckons

The week has gone and a new week awaits. I can only say that it is through God's grace and mercy that I went through the week with a crazy assignment on hand.

Another 3 more essay assignments and 3 more presentations to prepare, but I gotta finish up Lady Audley's Secret soon!

Finally dropped Limbang tuition which pays super well, but it's taking up too much of my time, and the boys are getting out of hand. No more 3hours of tuition :)

The week ended well. It was like a heavy load being lifted from my shoulders on Friday. Had Japanese food with Dad and Mum for dinner on Friday, and on we had Japanese food again just now!

Surprisingly, I'm not dreading the week that is to come. Somehow I feel motivated to work hard and not slack.. hope it's not too late, and I hope this desire to be hardworking sustains till the exams are over!

Love the following song, and it has been in my head for quite some time now. I guess I need to constantly remind myself of my first love for God. Hope that my love for God won't be lukewarm, but that it will be one that is filled with joy and peace! :)

A Passion for Thee
Joe Zichterman

Set my heart, O dear Father, On Thee, and Thee only.
Give me a thirst for Thy presence divine.
Lord, keep my focus on loving Thee wholly,
Purge me from earth; turn my heart after Thine.

Chorus
A passion for Thee,
O Lord, set a fire in my soul,
And a thirst for my God.
Hear Thou my prayer,
Lord Thy power impart.
Not just to serve,
But to love Thee with all of my heart.

Father fill with Thy Spirit, and fit me for service.
Let love for Christ every motive inspire.
Teach me to follow in selfless suibmission,
Be Thou my joy and my soul's one desire.

Puke and Purge

Seriously, my Singapore Lit essay is crap. Pages of nothing but crap about the Merlion.

My tutor is gonna puke blood just like how the Merlion spews. haa..

Peace

Doing work in school is rather therapeutic. Sitting outside LT8 (i hereby declare this spot as my favourite studying spot :p) and working on the assignments with the cool weather and the lovely music played through my earphones, is actually rather peaceful actually.

Alrite, back to taming the Merlion.

The week is almost over!!! =D

I'll be patient

Trying to do things without regrets now. Or should I say, I have to do certain things so I won't regret in the end.

Sigh.

Oh well...

God makes all things beautiful in His time. I need to pray for patience to wait on the Lord for the best provision for me :)

Recess week is over, and I'm trying my best to be hardworking. Don't want my GPA to drop. No motivation for school at the moment but I guess God will be my guide and strength through this period of sian-ness.

Hmmm..

Not seeing someone for a relatively long period of time, and bumping into this person in an unexpected situation, made me realised that I have actually missed this person quite a fair bit without even knowing it.

Humans are selfish beings. They are bothered when people hurt them, but more often that not, they do not acknowledge it when they have hurt someone. It's like a cycle, I feel, but I don't know how to explain in words how this cycle works. It's all in my head. I can picture it, but I can't put it in words. I'm not good when it comes to multi-tasking. When I'm deep in thoughts, I'd just stone and not speak. When I'm talking, words don't come easy for me because I can't exactly think when I speak. Well, I wouldn't say that 100% of what I say is rubbish though. That's one reason why I don't really like having conversations over the phone, because I may just bore the other person by either my silence, or the crap I speak. Anyway, this is just a side-track.

As I was saying, humans are selfish.
Humans are not perfect. Humans are never contented. Humans always want more. Humans may seem to have what is best for them, but seriously, the best is not enough for them. What exactly do they want? Hmmm..

Godliness with contentment is great gain. I shall tell myself that, and be contented with whatever I have. Of course, this isn't a chance for me to idle my life away. Just do my best and God will take care of the rest.

Now the problem comes when I ask myself what's the best that I can reach. What's my maximum? What am I going to do with my life? Have I even tried hard?

I feel so stupid being in the course I'm studying now. Everyone speaks up in class with brilliant ideas while I just sit on my chair and taking in people's idea. Where in the world is my spine? I can't possibly be relying on people's ideas all the time. This is bad. While all the professors are faithfully giving their lectures, I faithfully let my mind wander into who-knows-where. When I actually pay attention, I don't catch a single ball. Grr.. With all the assignments piling up and beckoning me with their scary witch-liked fingernails and hands (I'm personifying my work. Ha. This is scary.), I can't imagine how I'm gonna complete it. Ooops, a mistake there. I can't imagine how I'm gonna START working on it.

Singapore Lit is the terrifying one. 2200 WORDS! (Just to compare two poems on the s*lly-looking merlion. Victorian Lit is more merciful. Only 800 words :) Film module is bad, yet I'm looking forward to working on it. 2800 words! Plus 2 presentations. Mulan and Tom Stoppard's The Real Inspector Hound. Oohh..and not forgetting the waste-my-time HW 111 presentation.

Rant rant rant rant. I can rant all day long. it's been long since I ranted.

May God help cluttered-mind Stacey.

Seriously...

Seriously, what am I doing with my own life?
I worry so much, panic so much, yet I put in so little effort in doing something about my problems.

What's wrong with me?
ARGHHHH......

The height of my pile of work to be done can be compared to Mt. Everest.

Just came back from the English Lit Department Halloween party! My first time "celebrating" Halloween. Dressed as a Grim Reaper this year. Really really appreciate my Mom's effort in sewing my costume and going around places with my Dad to help me look for the mask and costume. No other words can describe my sincere appreciation towards them.

Halloween party wasn't very good, but the company was good. Some of the people's costumes are really interesting! Shall upload all the photos when I've gotten them from my friends.

If I had to describe this week, I'd describe it in two words: "The Horror!".
Yep.. indeed, "the horror, the horror!" (from Heart of Darkness). Stayed up til about 4am to complete the essay, and went to school 5 hours later, looking like a panda. But who cares, it's Fridays and I love Fridays! Seems like today was better than last Friday ;) Fridays rock. It's a pity I only have one more Friday left for school =(

Well, next week will be another bad week because I'll have to do HL101's assignment! Sighh...

Overall, it has been a happy week though, despite the lack of sleep. Not looking forward to exams. I'm so glad the modules I'm taking next semester have been pre-registered, so that means there's a high chance that I'll be in the same class as my current tutorial mates! Hope that's the case. I love all of them =)

School's fun when you have a motivation. But seems like I'm going with the wrong motivation.

Anyway, it's ironic how cluttered this post is. Craft of Writing supposedly teaches me not to write in a clutter manner. But who cares. I'm just typing whatever that comes into my mind.

Right now, I'm really happy. Surprisingly, I'm looking forward to Monday already! =p

Yay, it's Friday!
I love Fridays, and today is possibly one of the best Fridays ever since school started *smitten and sheepish smile*

But...

No point eleborating on the 'but'. 'but' in itself is an opposition. So go figure the complexity (messiness) of my mind.

Thinking back just leads to an inevitable smile though =)

Oh, I got an A- for my essay for writing class! I thought I'd get a C cos that paper was really scrwed up. Hope I can get around the same for the next assignment cos the next assignment is crappier.

I'm so glad this week is over. HL102 really nearly killed me, but thank God that family and friends cared. I'm beginning to understand why my vocation is in NTU and not FASS.. It's not a bad thing afterall. I used to think NTU Eng Lit was where they dump useless people.. but I was wrong.. it's a place for people with talents, passion, brains, intelligence etc. If I'm already suffering in my studies here in NTU, I wonder how it'll be at FASS. Anyway, thank God for friends in school that are really angels sent by God to encourage me.

I mentioned that I wanna blog about my trip to the Toy Museum. Well, as there are many photos, I'm unable to upload them here. So if you wanna have a look on what are the toys they have, just check out the 3 albums in my Facebook.

Some of the toys I saw brought back memories. Speaking of memories..I was packing my cupboard when I saw my JJ uniform.. decided to try it on and see how I'd look (thank God I still can fit in without any problems). Kinda made me nostalgic.. Although the school sucked..there were other points that made going to school fun afterall.. Friends, eye-candy, Jimbo (HAHA), softball blabla.

Did I mention that Im so glad this suicidal week is over?

IT'S OVER!

I'm very sure Edmund Spenser was watching me from behind, mocking and laughing at me all the way while I was doing my essay.

Soon, really soon, Shakespeare will visit me and mock me just the same.
Or maybe even Geoffrey Chaucer..
WHO KNOWS? MILTON!?

These amazing people will be sitting behind/beside me, mocking at me while I do my essays..

Should I be honoured or what?

Bahh...

Procrastination has taken its toll on me.
Or should I say, procrastination has always been taking its toll on me.
As such, I had/have to rush 4 assignments (3 major assignments, 1 homework).

There's so much I wanna blog about, especially about my visit to the Toy Museum on Sunday, but since I'll have many photos to upload, with so little time, I will probably do it on Friday.

Haven't been getting enough sleep these few nights.. Can't wait for this killer week to be over. Ever since school started, I've never felt time pass so slow before. This week is simply moving too slow and strenuous.

Back to sonnet-ing!
Edward Spenser just made life difficult for me.
And soon will Shakespeare, Milton, Chaucer, and many other "great" men.

Nice song by the Eagles. I guess I'm in the soft-rock mood now. Eagles rock. Their songs are good. I was looking up on Hotel California, and some people rumoured that it has something to do with the Church of Satan, which led me to the Church of Satan website, which I didn't stay for long cuz it was quite scary, which led me to learn more about the CoS on Wikipedia, where I did learn something.

What bad English in the preceding paragraph..

Okay, I will be registering for electric guitar lessons tmr. Gonna learn scales and tabs! Woohoo! Then maybe someday I can form my own band and just rock away.

Okay, not a very productive day today, but I read Texts and Contexts! Only read up on New Criticism though. But there's a story behind why I read it, and the story came from the nightmare I had last night. NIGHTMARE I TELL YOU!

In my dream, I was caught in this room with a few people. The setting is like those movies where there's a psycho killer somewhere. So, as mentioned, I was in this room that seem somewhat like an office. There was a killing spree, and the people in the room were named after the methodologies I studied in HL104. I could only remember two though; 'New Criticism' and 'Deconstruction'. In short, all I remember was me running around the place with the murderer following closely. He stabbed me, and I soon found out he's 'New Criticism'. Funny, but scary nonetheless.

No joke, ok. HL104 literally gives nightmares. I think I totally screwed my abstract which I managed to finish on time.

I like the following video: Tale of Rock.
It's really cute!

I suddenly feel a sense of satisfaction.

It feels as though half the load of a burden has been lifted off my shoulders. Brian Hoca finally accepted my word! I came up with 3 words, and he suggested 'tobacco', and even commented it was a good word. YAY! And i'm gonna use the New Historicism/Traditional Historicism methodology. Oh man..so cool.. finally something to do with History =D

I sure am glad. The week is going really quickly, and recess week is coming!! Somehow I feel more motivated to work hard now.

Gave a surprise to Ishita today! Boy was she shocked! Glad to have seen her after sooooo long. Seems like she visits NTU more often than her own school, NUS. Haha. She should have come here cuz all her friends are here. Was so fun reminiscing about the craziest things we did in Chinese class back in secondary school.

(random comment..)
I love my tutorial class. I love the people.
