National Anthem

I've always wondered what I am singing when I sing the national anthem. I only understand two words. Oh well, I never really felt patriotic when I sing the national anthem though. Whoopsie daisy~

I like the national anthems of certain countries. 'The Star-Spangled Banner' has a very beautiful tune, and it has been sung by many stars before sports competitions. Even though I'm not an American, I think I'd feel very patriotic if I were to stand in front of the America flag (Not that I wanna be an American).

I like the French and German national anthems. They've got a very majestic tune. I realised that many European national anthems sound similar though. Just heard Spain's and Italy's, and the thing they have in common is the majestic aura.

I'm rather amused by the Russian national anthem though. It was rewritten after 1991 when the USSR collapsed, removing Lenin's and Stalin's name! Marks the end of communism or socialism?

I haven't got the time to check out the other national anthems, but one thing I'm sure, European countries mainly have beautiful tunes. Most of the anthems consists of geography, history, and of course, unity. Rriiight.. back to the books!

Deutschland, Deutschland über alles, über alles in der Welt!
